Question, definitions, test and decision rule are written down and committed BEFORE the first outcome number is computed. The commit is the proof: its timestamp must precede the result commit, checkable with git. A study registered after its result is still listed, but marked as such — the register shows every preregistered question with its outcome, not only the ones that held and not only the ones that fell.
Calculation
prereg_ref = lock commit; valid when it is an ancestor of source_commit (the result commit) and its commit time precedes completed_at. Outcome vocabulary: fell | held | not_answerable | dissolved | null (registered, open).
