Price-time displacement
Market Structure· DE: Preis-Zeit-Versatz
How far back in time today’s price sits: the calendar days since the asset first closed at or above today’s close. 0 = new all-time high close. If the level was already reached on the first day of the series, the value is a lower bound (truncated). Not comparable across assets with different history lengths — compare days_below_share instead. Descriptive, not a signal.
Calculation
first_reach(t) = first day s with close_s ≥ close_t (running maximum, binary search); displacement_days = calendar days between first_reach(t) and t; truncated = first_reach(t) is the series’ first day. Completed UTC daily closes, no look-ahead.
